Auxiliary Tool Crib Assistant
On Call/As Required
Duties: This position is managed by the Department Head of Trades and receives operation/functional direction/guidance/instruction from instructors in the program areas supported. The tool crib assistant provides operational and program support services to trades instructors and trades programming including assisting students in the safe handling of tools and materials and providing general assistance to the instructor of the program. This is an auxiliary position to backfill the regular, full-time positions in an on call/as required basis.
Qualifications: The Auxiliary Tool Crib Assistant is required to hold a valid OFA Level 1 First Aid Certification and will be assigned to a shop area only when there is an OFA Level 3 qualified shop attendant accessible. The Auxiliary Tool Crib Assistant must be able to follow directions and guidance accurately and in a timely manner. Familiarity in the use and maintenance of various hand and power tools applicable to various trades is also required in the completion of his/her duties. Grade 12 or equivalent and work experience in the general trades area (carpentry, electrical, mechanics, millwright, welding) is also required. Along with an ability to use a variety of hand and power tools, you will also have well developed interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and knowledge related to safety and safe work practices and procedures.

Salary: CUPE Pay Level 3 with a starting wage of $26.48 per hour (this includes 8% lieu of benefits and vacation)
